PM Surayud unafraid of death threats

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said he is not worried about a report that southern Thai separatists have offered a seven-digit reward for killing him, saying it would be an honour to die like a soldier.
"As a soldier, if we could die for the country, it would be an honour. I am not worried that the separatists have offered a reward for me," Surayud told reporters. Unconfirmed reports said that separatists in the South have put out the reward because the government is considering adopting the right strategies to handle the southern situation while the separatists are trying to hold on to their sympathisers. Surayud said he could not confirm the report but will ask Army CommanderinChief Gen Sonthi Bunyaratglin. Asked to comment on the increasing violence in the South, the prime minister said that to solve the problems will take time but he would have the situation evaluated around December. The Nation
