Vietnam :Ascon Construction in bid to build 18 hotels

Ascon Construction will sign an agreement to set up a joint venture with a German firm for joint bidding to construct 18 hotels in Vietnam worth up to Bt10 billion at the end of next month, says managing director Pattanapong Tanumathaya.
He said his company would hold a 40-per-cent stake in the joint venture. The construction project in Vietnam will start in next year's first quarter. The company announced total revenues of Bt980.36 million and a net profit of Bt94.70 million in the first nine months of this year. The company expects total revenues of Bt1.5 billion this year and Bt2.5 billion next year, 25 per cent of which will come from government projects, higher than the current 15 per cent, he added.
Thailand :Kao Commercial adds 2 new sanitary items Kao Commercial (Thailand), a household and personal-care manufacturer, recently introduced two new feminine sanitary products. Yuji Shimizu, marketing director for consumer products, said the two new products fell under the panty-liner category: Laurier Daily Relax and Laurier Daily Active. Both Laurier panty-liner products meet the demand of a new female lifestyle that has resulted in a high growth rate of 10 per cent. At present, total market value is estimated at about Bt500 million. Shimizu said the panty-liner market was not as valuable as the Bt3.5-billion-a-year sanitary-napkin market. However, the latter's annual growth is only 1.2 per cent. The company has earmarked a Bt70-million marketing budget.
