Tamarine in Taiwan semi

The in-form Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand stormed into the semi-finals of the US$75,000 (Bt2.8 million) Gram Cup Taiwan Ladies Open tournament in Kaohsiung after she defeated South Korean qualifier Mi Yoo 6-4 6-0 in the quarter-finals yesterday.
The top seeded Thai has now won 12 of her last 14 matches in four tournaments, finishing runner-up in the WTA Bangkok Open event and winning a challenger title in Shanghai. Compatriot Nudnida Luangnam, in her first challenger quarter-final, squandered a 5-3 lead in the final set before going down to Taiwan's Chang Kai-chen 6-4 3-6 7-5. Tamarine has lined up a semi-final clash with Taiwan's seventh-seeded Hsieh Su-wei, who advanced past countrywoman Meng Yuan. Tamarine has never lost to the Taiwanese teenager. They have played twice this year, in the final qualifying round of the Australian Open and the second round of a challenger tournament in Washington. Tamarine won without dropping a set both times. Meanwhile in Caloundra, Australia, Danai Udomchoke and his Taiwanese partner Lu Yen-hsun lost their quarter-final to Australians Carsten Ball and Adam Fee Ney 4-6 6-3 10-8 in the $25,000 KIA International Challenger tournament yesterday.
