Danai wins in S Korea

Thailand's Danai Udomchoke defeated American Paul Goldstein in the final of the US$75,000 (Bt2.8 million) Flea Market Cup Busan Challenger Tennis tournament in South Korea yesterday to win his third challenger title this year.
The fifth-seed and world No 95 dropped only two games on his way to victory over the 81st ranked Goldstein, winning 6-2 6-0 in a rematch of their previous encounter there last May which the Thai also won. His win in South Korea yesterday was by far Danai's biggest. He had never won a $75,000 challenger tournament before and his highest prize money titles were $50,000 in Canada and the US last year. In the doubles final, Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana of Thailand lost a close battle to top seeds Alexander Peya of Austria and Bjorn Phau of Germany, going down 6-7 (3-7) 6-3 10-3. In Manila, Thailand's Varanya Vijuksanaboon failed to win her first ITF trophy when she lost to Filipina Stacey Tan 2-6 6-4 6-0 in the final of the $10,000 Holcim ITF Women's Circuit 1 tournament in Manila. - The Nation.
