PM leaves for Vietnam on official visit

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont leaves for Vietnam on Thursday to forster bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation.

During his one-day trip, Surayud, who is appointed as PM on October 1, would meet with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung.

Surayud had recently visited Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines since he was appointed as the prime minister on October 1.

Surayud and Dung will hold a joint cabinet meeting to discuss increasing bilateral trade and investment to US$5 billion.

They will also discuss further cooperation in public health and peopletopeople relations.

Surayud will also meet Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet and the Secretary General of the Communist Party, Nong Duc Manh.

The two countries celebrated the 30th anniversary of bilateral relations on August 6 this year.
