Media target of OAG security

The Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) and Assets Examination Committee (AEC) yesterday beefed up security by requiring reporters to register for identification tags - and limiting the number of reporters and how long they can work in the building.
Auditor-General Khunying Jaruvan Maintaka issued a notice asking reporters working at the OAG, where the AEC is also located, to bring letters of certification from their offices plus photographs to register for ID cards. The number of reporters was limited to two per publication or channel. And they would only be allowed in the media room or in front of the lifts, from 9.30am to 6.30pm. It said there had been some "people with bad intentions" pretending to be reporters and committing crimes in the building. Kaewsan Atibodhi, AEC secretary-general, said media reports of the eight cases the committee was investigating had caused some evidence to be destroyed by wrong-doers. Therefore, the committee would increase its working speed without revealing the names of people involved.
