Different interests
All 107 Thai Rak Thai executive committee members can be divided into three groups: elderly politicians, the younger generation and businessmen.
The senior politicians are trying hard to maintain their status. The clearest example is Somsak Thepsuthin, whose resignation as an executive member prompted Thaksin to resign as party leader. Pinij Jarusombat, Suwat Liptapanlop, Prachuab Chaiyasarn and Pongphol Adireksarn are in this group.The second group, composed of younger politicians such as Chaturon Chaisaeng, Newin Chidchob, Wutthichai Sanguanwongchai and Udom Kraiwatnusorn, is less concerned about the party being dissolved. Even if they are banned for five years, they plan to ask relatives to stand as election candidates. They could make a return later. As for businessmen such as Suriya Jungrungreangkit, Prayuth Mahakitsiri, Pracha Maleenont and Suriya Larpwisutthisin, they would not be seriously affected by a dissolution. But their businesses might be affected by the absence of the Thaksin regime. the nation
