Democrat Party member Sirichoke Sopha yesterday submitted a letter to the Council for Democratic Reform under Constitutional Monarchy (CDRM) asking it to speed up an investigation into the murder of a shipping agent two years ago.
Kornthep Wiriya, a key prosecution witness in the Shin Satellite tax-evasion case, was gunned down in Chiang Rai. Shin Satellite and sister company CS Communications were accused of evading Bt100 million in tax. Ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, whose family owned a major stake in Shin Satellite, has previously denied any involvement in the murder. Sirichoke submitted a videotape of testimony by Kornthep to the National Police Commissioner, General Kowit Wattana, who is also part of the CDRM. He said he would submit a copy of a cheque for Bt4.53 million to the Office of the Auditor-General today as evidence of tax evasion.
