No pain in Spain for Thais

[BADMINTON] Thailand's Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thungthongkam stormed into the third round of the World Badminton Championships in Spain yesterday after ousting Svetoslav Stoyanov and Elodie Eymard of France 21-13 21-12.
The Thai duo, ranked No 6 in the world, next take on either Malaysians Gan Taik Chai and Fong Chew Yen or Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Kostiuczyk of Poland in the third round. Meanwhile, countrymen Songpol Anukrittayawan and Kunchala Vorawichitchaikul went down to Koo Kien Keat and Wong Pei Tty of Malaysia in the first round. In the men's singles, Thai No 1 Boonsak Ponsana eliminated Craig Goddard of Scotland 21-11 21-8 in his first round match on Tuesday. He next faces Japan's Shoji Sato in the second round. Countrymen Sudket and Patapol Ngernsrisuk also made it to the second round where they meet Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia after trouncing Brazilians Kumasaka and Pardo Guilherme 21-6 21-12 on Tuesday. Thailand's Monthila Meemak advanced to the women's singles third round yesterday after Yao Jie from the Netherlands withdrew. Monthila will face Tracey Hallam of England in the third round. In the second round of the women's doubles, Thailand's Sara-lee and Sathinee Chankrach-angwong routed Nigerians Grace Daniel and Susan Ideh and face Aki Akao and Tomomi Matsuda of Japan in the third round.
