Worrawut is hard to beat in pool

[NATIONAL GAMES] Bangkok extended their gold medal tally, with Worrawut Ampaiwan smashing his third straight Games record in swimming yesterday in Suphan Buri.

Worrawut, in awe-inspiring form, had set two records in the men's 50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke events. He maintained his form to clock 2 minutes 21.54 seconds in the men's 200m breaststroke, bettering Wotthikorn Siriplabpla's old record of 2.21.88.

The capital city also seized three more gold in swimming through Nida Techakrittheeranun in the women's 1500m freestyle, Suriya Susupak in the men's 100m freestyle, and Jariyawadee Narongrith in the women's 200m breaststroke.

Pathum Thani, Chon Buri and Suphan Buri shared a gold apiece in the men's and women's 200m butterfly, and in the women's 100m freestyle, respectively.

In golf, Bangkok captured both gold in the men's and women's individual and also took the men's team, while Suphan Buri won the women's team event.

Bangkokians won three out of the four gold up for grabs in the martial art wushu, with Prachuap Khiri Khan taking the remaining gold in the women's long weaponry class.

In dance sports, apart from the gold in Latin American Class E on Thursday, Kornkanok Ke-butr and Sadawit Setthachai also gave Krabi the gold in the standard Class E contest. The province also claimed the second gold in the class D through Athit Horthong and Chanika Kanlayawanich.

Chiang Mai clinched two gold in the Latin American class B and in the standard class C, while Bangkok grabbed the last gold in the Latin American class A.

In rowing, Chiang Mai took two gold medals from the women's 500m kayak 2 and in the women's 500m kayak 1.

Rayong also won two gold from the men's 500m kayak 1, and the men's 500m kayak 2 events.

Suphan Buri and Samut Prakan won remaining two gold in

the men's and women's 500m kayak 5.

Chon Buri and Si Sa Ket shared one gold each in the 44kg and 48kg freestyle divisions in the women's wrestling, while Chumphon, Yala and Bangkok took one gold apiece in the men's 66kg, 84kg and 55kg freestyle categories.

In cycling, national rider Prajak Mahawong added two gold for Phayao in the men's mass start and in the elimination race.

After taking the women's 20km point race on the previous day, Pornpan Boonmasao gave Lamphun the second gold in the women's 3km pursuit. Bangkok seized the remaining gold in the men's team.
