Premier 'bares all' on show

The first of three episodes of caretaker Prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra's "Open up" interview programme hosted by former Thai Rak Thai MP Chakraphan Yomjinda will be aired this morning on Channel 5, a source from the Sanam Pao Station said.

The episode on his political future will be aired on Friday.

In one part of the interview, Thaksin said he might not be the next prime minister as he wasn't keen to stick to power, the source said.

The source, requesting anonymity, said Thaksin's interview would be aired for three consecutive days starting today from 8.15am to 8.35 am.

"During the interview, Thaksin did not mention that he would take a break from politics. But he opened up on issues regarding his political future. It's up to the audience to interpret his words," the source said.

This section of the programme focuses on on-location interviews with prominent or interesting people. In the past, many political leaders have been interviewed in this segment.

Thaksin's interview was taped on September 6, before his trip abroad. The first episode will cover his personal life, his lifestyle and achievements during the past five years while serving as prime minister. Thaksin admitted to having made some mistakes, but it was because he was overworked, the source said, revealing bits of his interview.

The second episode will focus on his recent trips abroad, to help the campaign of Deputy Prime Minister Surakiart Sathirathai for the United Nations secretary-general post, the source said.

The programme, Sanam Pao Station, which airs from 7.40am to 9am on weekdays, has been advertising the Thaksin interview since Monday. The station expects a large audience to tune in, the source said.
