Elvis is alive!

Believe it or not, but the king of rock 'n' roll will take to the stage at our very own Impact Arena
The eye-catching "Elvis Presley In Concert" posters, currently seen all over Bangkok, have got Thai fans (and others from all over the world) a little confused. Didn't the king of rock 'n' roll die in 1977? Of course, many devotees believe the king is still very much alive: he's either working at McDonald's or driving a red London bus on the moon - depending on who you talk to or which British tabloid you read. In fact, Elvis has been dead for nearly 30 years, so what's with these posters? The answer is a stunning production that reunites former band mates on stage with Elvis performing on a giant video screen. All the music will performed live except for Elvis' voice. "Elvis in Concert" is, in effect, the king's first-ever world tour, because he never performed outside of America when he was alive. The critically acclaimed show (formerly known as "Elvis - The Concert") kicked off in 1998 with shows in America and has since performed sold-out concerts in Europe, Japan and Australia. On October 21, Elvis will "perform" for the first time in Thailand at the Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani. The show's concept is to present an authentic-as-possible Elvis Presley concert. The producers have put together a collection of Elvis' finest performances that exist on film and video, and removed virtually all sound apart from the king's vocals. The 1970-1973 footage shows Elvis at the pinnacle of his super-stardom and in top form physically. A 16-piece orchestra will accompany the band, and on either side of the screen showing Elvis, will be two other screens that carry live action from the stage. Among the original band members currently participating in the production are Joe Guercio (musical director/ conductor); Myrna Smith (vocals) of The Sweet Inspirations band; James Burton (lead guitar); Glen D Hardin (piano); Jerry Scheff (bass guitar); and Ronnie Tutt (drums). "Elvis in Concert" has also been honoured with a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records as the first live tour headlined by a performer who is no longer alive.
