Late News :CP Seed to pay for breaking tree contract

Charoen Pokphand Seed Co Ltd has agreed to pay compensation to the Agriculture Department for failing to distribute 15.5 million rubber trees to growers.

Director-general Adisak Sreesunpagit said last week the contract expired on August 31, leaving hundreds of farmers with about 150,000 rai of plantations still waiting for their trees from the company.

"Farmers have been hit by the lack of rubber trees as they have already invested in preparing the plantation area," he said.

The department will consider whether to extend the contract with the company.
