Virat is manager

[SOCCER] Virat Chanphanich has been named as the manager of the Thai national team for this year's King Cup tournament, which will be held at the end of December in Bangkok.
The appointment of Virat, who was the assistant manager of the national team when it claimed its seventh successive SEA Games title in the Philippines last year, has been approved by the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) executive board. The board also decided to add Vimol Kanchana to the list of national team managers. Apart from Vimol, who was at the helm when Thailand made a premature exit in the Tiger Cup in 2004, the list includes Tawatchai Sajjakul, Kasem Jariyawatwong and Kittirat Na Ranong. Meanwhile, the board agreed to merge the Thailand Premier League run by the FAT and the Professional League managed by the Sport Authority of Thailand (SAT). The FAT will set up a committee to draw up the merger plan which will be forwarded to the SAT for consideration.
