Thailand sweep gold medals

[SEPAK TAKRAW] Thailand made a clean sweep of the six gold medals on offer in the King's Cup World Sepak Takraw Championships at the Fashion Island Shopping Centre in Ram Indra.
The men's team tamed Indonesia 2-0 to retain their title for the 19th successive time. Pornchai Khaokaew, Suriyan Pehchan and Saravuth Inlek played stellar roles as Indonesia's A team lost 21-12 21-9 to the Kingdom's A team. Thailand B with Suebsak Phansueb and Somporn Jaisinghol in their ranks beat Indonesia B 21-11 21-11. The Thai women were simply outstanding yesterday, defeating Vietnam 2-0 to claim the King's Cup for the seventh time in a row. In the men's doubles competition, Thailand A brushed aside Thailand B in straight sets 21-18 21-19 in Division A. Laos beat Cambodia 2-1 in Division B and India A beat India B 2-1 in Division C. In the women's doubles, Thailand B stunned Thailand A 2-0 in Division A, while Indonesia downed the Philippines 2-1 in Division B. Thailand also fared well in loop takraw, with the men's team scoring 920 points, the highest. Burma finished a distant second with 740 points. The Thai women's team followed in the footsteps of their men counterparts, scoring 580 points to take the pennant, while Burma scored 490 points to claim second place.
