FRIDAY BUG
There's an art to being a banker

Almost every day, newspapers must run at least one story with comments from the big cheeses at the central bank and most people see the Bank of Thailand as constantly involved in macroeconomics or other serious stuff.
Not many people know that there's an art club at the central bank's head office. The club is holding a drawing course taught by famous artist Suchart Wongthong for only Bt2,500 a person. The course is open to the bank's staff as well as interested people in general. This week the central bank put on an art exhibition, showing all the creations of the club's members, including deputy governor Tarisa Watanagase and assistant governor Krirk Vanikkul. Tarisa received scores of compliments for her painting skills, especially as shown in her "Ha ha ha mi" picture. The name of the work alone drew the attention of visitors. "Ha mi" is backwards for "hima", which means snow. Krirk's pieces were also among the highlights. He was recognised as the one who sketched the picture of a woman's back that looks like a man's. Although Governor Pridiyathorn Devakula didn't have any drawings to show, he presented photographs he has taken on his travels, including shots from the Jungfrau mountain and the Interlaken in Switzerland. Money raised from event will be donated to Suchart's foundation for teaching art to underprivileged children.
