Plot suspect set to turn himself in

One of four soldiers charged with attempting to murder the prime minister may meet police investigators today - 24 hours ahead of a deadline for his surrender.

Maj-Gen Phairoj Theerapharb has been charged with attempted murder of a government official. He was ordered to turn himself in to the Crime Suppression Division at 10am today.

Another officer, Colonel Suraphol Supradit faces the same charge. He had reportedly contacted police to arrange a meeting. The whereabouts of Sgt-Maj Chakhrit Janthara are unknown. Lt-Col Manas Sukprasert turned himself over to investigators at the Erawan Camp on Monday. Lt Thawatchai Klinchana was arrested on Aug 24 driving an alleged car bomb.
