Police deport Manchester father of family killed in England

Abbas,8, and Adam Arshad, 11
Police deported a British man whose wife and three children were found beaten to death at their home in England, immigration police told Associated Press.

Rahan Arshad, 36, was arrested Wednesday at the Padang Basar checkpoint in southern Thailand on the border with Malaysia.

"He went out and then came back in to renew his visa," a senior police official said on condition of anonymity because of policy. He said that Arshad left Thailand and re-entered at about 10:30 am Wednesday.

British police discovered the four bodies on Aug 20 at the Arshad home in Cheadle Hulme in Greater Manchester. The victims had been dead for some time, police said.

Post-mortem examinations determined that Uzma Rahan, 32, and her three children _ Adam, 11, Abbas, 8, and Henne, 6 - died of massive head injuries.

Thai police found that Arshad had landed at Bangkok's international airport on July 31, and immediately entered his information into the immigration police computer network, the official said.

"We then tracked him through the computer system. The information showed that he departed there, so we prepared to arrest him,'' he said. "He wasn't doing anything in Thailand. He was just a tourist, staying in Bangkok.''

He did not have any further details about Arshad's activities in Thailand, according to AP.

Arshad was deported from Bangkok and was expected to arrive in London Friday morning.

British police investigating the killings on August 23 arrested two suspects, identified only as a 35-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man. They were bailed until October 26, pending further inquiries, according to a news release from the Greater Manchester police.

Police had also been searching for Arshad, whose BMW 320 sports car was found at London's Heathrow Airport, where it apparently had been parked for several weeks. British police say they believe he left the country by July 29.
