Rainmakers restructured

The Royal Artificial Rain Unit will be restructured under a plan that will create eight rainmaking centres. A room would also be prepared as an office for His Majesty the King at the Hua Hin centre.

Dr Sumet Tantivejkul, secretary-general of the Chaipattana Foundation, who was heading the restructuring plan, said it would mean an increase in personnel and systemised rainmaking technology.

The centres would be located at Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Si Thamma-rat, Rayong, Hua Hin, Surat Thani and Phitsanulok.

All eight centres would be directly answerable to the Hua Hin centre, said Sita Divari, secretary of the committee overseeing the restructuring.

Sita said the plan would be presented to the King for royal advice soon, while a new formula for rainmaking would be brought into use in December.
