Doubt over car-bomb case

A retired Army general yesterday expressed scepticism about the police's handling of the car-bomb case and said he did not believe the lone suspect really wanted to kill the prime minister, as alleged.
Maj-General Smarn Gaysorn-in, who received a phone call from Army Lt Thawatchai Klinchana early in the morning last Thursday before he was arrested, said it was strange to him that the suspect used his own mobile phone to contact other people behind a high-profile murder plot. Smarn said he also made a call to Thawatchai once to check on Maj-General Phaibool Phainark, an old friend and the suspect's boss. Smarn said he was ready to meet with police and would cooperate with police.
