Exporters praised

Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra congratulates the 24 winners of the Prime Minister's Export Awards 2006 at Government House yesterday.
In his speech, Thaksin said all exporters should keep improving the quality of their products and reiterated his confidence that Thailand's exports value would reach US$130 billion (Bt4.9 trillion) this year, and would continue to be a pillar of the country's gross domestic product. He also said the government would try to open up more export markets and firms are encouraged to make requests. "This is the sixth year that I have bestowed these awards. Notably, the winners this year are younger [than me]. Next would be those at the same age as my children. I feel old, especially this year, and I don't know by whom these awards will be bestowed next year," he said.
