Thammasat avenge their loss

[BASKETBALL] Thammasat University yesterday pulled off a 67-61 away victory over Dhurakij Pundit University in Group A in the Bt140,000 The Nation-Siam University League Tournament.
It was a sweet revenge for Thammasat, who lost 77-74 at home on Wednesday. Buoyed by their earlier win, Dhurakij Pundit University started on a confident note and opened up a 25-14 lead. Trailing ten points in the second period, visitors Thammasat University played the front-court press to put Dhurakij Pundit University under pressure. The visiting side's efforts bore fruits as they rallied to close the gap to 27-28, but Dhurakij Pundit kept the halfway lead at 36-31. Thammasat University brought in their reserves, changed their game plan and started marking their men effectively. It helped. The team took a 55-52 lead for the first time and never looked back. With time ticking away, both sides played quite aggressively and fouls were called several times. The hosts had their chances but they lost it at the free-throw line, shooting quite dismally to the chagrin of their supporters. Thammasat University won. Elsewhere, experienced players Ong-art Sompao and Boonchai Ritthipanyawong helped hosts Bangkok University squeak past Rattana Pundit University 106-103 in their first match in Group B.
