Banphot's Bt50m gift to TRT
Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's brother-in-law gifted Bt50 million to the Thai Rak Thai Party last month, the Election Commission said yesterday. The sponsor was Banphot Damapong, the older brother of Thaksin's wife Pojaman, said Pirapong Pairin, the EC's public relations director.
In July, the ruling party received Bt50.12 million in total donations, he said.The Democrat Party welcomed Bt1.09 million, with Bt1 million of that coming from Srisuban Farm Co alone. So far this year, Thai Rak Thai has been the beneficiary of the most contributions - Bt130.6 million. The Democrats reported Bt39.5 million and Prachakorn Thai Party took in Bt7.4 million, he said.
