PAKAPON ANANTASAK of Rangsit University, right, battles for the ball with Thanakorn Seelawanich of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology University North Bangkok at Rangsit University’s Gymnasium yesterday.
[BASKETBALL] Rangsit University trounced King Mongkut's Institute of Technology University North Bangkok 87-60 at home to grab their first win in the Bt140,000 The Nation-Siam University League Tournament.

In the Group A clash, the visitors showed great form and took a 24-20 lead. The hosts rallied to level at 35-35 and opened up a 41-38 halfway lead.

In the second half, Rangsit controlled the proceedings with Khunakorn Sasison hitting many three-pointers. Their rivals were overawed by Khunakorn's form and repeatedly failed to score points. Rangsit's men rose to the occasion with their tight defence.

Khunakorn sank 28 points to emerge as the top scorer of match, while Warawut Promkhun scored 24 points for the losers.

Today Bangkok University will host Rattana Bundit University to open their campaign in Group B, while Thammasat University will

visit Dhurakij Pundit University for their second match in Group A.
