Dhurakij Pundit upset favourites

[BASKETBALL] Dhurakij Pundit University yesterday stunned hot favourites Thammasat University 77-74 in a see-sawing match in the Bt140,000 The Nation-Siam University League Tournament.
Thammasat University hosted Dhurakij Pundit for their first Group A match. In the first quarter the hosts, this year's National University Games champions, tried to move away but the visitors scored many three-pointers to narrow the gap to 16-15. They played neck and neck throughout the following quarter as the visiting Naruepon Wongsuk and the hosts' Keerati Panichkijchareon added several three-pointers to help their teams tie the score at 33-33. The Thammasat University side had to work hard as the Dhurakij Pundit University team controlled the game and widened the lead to 50-38. However, the hosts erased the deficit to 54-46 by the end of the third quarter. With the advantage, the visitors tried to slow up the game. But Thammasat University rallied from an 11-point deficit to run away to a 58-57 lead after making many points from free throws. The teams then traded baskets throughout the final quarter as the score was level at 66-66 when time was up. Thammasat University and Dhurakij Pundit had to play an extra time before the hosts suffered a home loss. Meanwhile, Prachya Kruatiwa of Srinakarinwirot University buried 26 points to help his team seal a 92-82 home victory over Bangkok University in their Group B match. Today King Mongkut's Institute of Technology University North Bangkok will visit Rangsit University for a Group A match.
