Complaint filed about OAG probe into Shin deal

A political activist filed a complaint on Thursday with police accusing AuditorGeneral Jaruvan Maintaka of malfeasance over her investigation of taxation issues in connection with the sale of Shin Corp to Singapore's Temasek Holdings early this year.
Theppanom Siriwithayarak, head of Northeastern Network for Constitution Protection, said in the complaint that Jaruvan committed malfeasance by investigating the case before it was made clear whether her office has the authorŽity to do so. Specifically, the complaint cites Jaruvan's summoning of five Revenue Department officials to give statements relating to the sale of Shin shares from the company Ample Rich to Panthongtae and Pinthongta Shinawatra, children of the prime minister. The Revenue Department has sought an opinion from the Council of State on the scope of duties of the Office of AuditorGeneral. The council has yet to reach a decision. Pol LtColonel Yuth Klamklomjit, the Crime Suppression Commission investiŽgator who accepted the complaint, said he would submit it to his superiors. The Nation
