PM hits out at senior figures

Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra hit out yesterday at unnamed senior figures, claiming they had given inappropriate public speeches that caused rifts and confusion.

"It is not that I want to be a PM forever. I just want to do my job to the best of my ability. Some senior figures foolishly speak and caused confusion and misunderstanding,'' he said. Thaksin was speaking before 5,000 people in Chiang Rai during his tour of the North.

"Today whoever causes rifts, it is time we should demonstrate our loyalty to the King. I would like Chiang Rai people to tell the whole country to call for reconciliation,'' he said.
