Big discounts at house show

House builders will offer discounts of between Bt80,000 and Bt1 million to anyone who signs up to have a property built while visiting the "Home Builder Exhibition 2006" at the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre, which runs from tomorrow until Sunday.
The promotion comes as firms seek to boost sales to Bt6 billion by the end of the year. Orders to build new homes grew by 10 per cent in the first six months, half the annual growth target, said Sakda Kovisut, president of the Home Builders Association. He said the association expects the event to generate sales of Bt800 million and believed that further deals after the event would help the market achieve its Bt6-billion target for the year. Sakda said the home building business had experienced only slight growth this year because of customers' concerns over high oil prices and rising interest rates. Their "wait and watch" approach to the political problem also delayed their decisions in the first half of the year. However, with a solution to the political situation now in sight, Sakda said customers are more likely to commit to buying a house in the second half, before construction costs increase next year. Visitors to the "Home Builder Exhibition 2006" can expect a range of discounts and special deals. Four Pattana Co Ltd, for example, is offering discounts of up to Bt1 million to those who sign up at the show, as well as a gold Bt10 coin. Similarly, Pathum Design Develop Co Ltd is offering discounts of between Bt80,000 and Bt800,000 depending on the size of the house and a three-day trip from Bangkok to Chiang Mai to see the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 horticultural show.
