Korean fires

South Korean veteran Chung Hee-seok won his first title of the year when he upset top seed Chen Ti of Taiwan in the final of the US$10,000 PTT Bangkok Open Men's Futures 4 event at the Rama Gardens Hotel yesterday.

The 29-year-old, who won three doubles trophies this season in South Korea, took the first set 6-4 before cruising through the second set 6-0 to claim victory.

The South Korean is now ranked No 834 in the world, but his best ranking was No 482 three years ago. He will be one of the favourites in the fifth leg of the series, which starts today at the Tennis Academy of Asia in Bangkok.
