Thai team to play friendly with China

[SOCCER] Thailand's head coach Chanwit Pholcheewin is relishing the challenge of facing a strong Chinese side, spearheaded by European-based stars, in their friendly next Thursday.
Despite being only a warm-up game, the Chinese reportedly will field their Asian Cup squad, which boasts many stars including Manchester City fullback Sun Jihai and teenage sensation Dong Fangzhuo of Manchester United. Chanwit, who took the Thai team to their seventh successive SEA Games title last year, has put on a brave face and insists the Chinese hold no fear for his side. "We are not afraid to play them. Instead, it will be great for us to face their strong side," said Chanwit, who plans to use the game as preparation for the Asian Games in December. "It does not matter if we win or lose, or even if we lose heavily to them, because our aim is to let our players gain as much experience as possible. Our priority is to prepare the team for the Asian Games, so this match will be very useful for us." Chanwit admitted he is not satisfied with the performance of the team in the 1-0 win against Suphan Buri on Tuesday. "Although our overall performance was quite okay, there is room to improve," added Chanwit.
