King's well-wishers 'orderly'

Thousands continued to flock to Siriraj Hospital yesterday to wish His Majesty the King a speedy recovery.
Despite the crowds, the hospital said people were respecting patients' well-being and keeping noise levels low. "We have won cooperation," hospital deputy director Dr Wisit Wamwanich said. He urged visitors to keep quiet, especially after eight in the evening so patients could rest. His Majesty was recovering satisfactorily from surgery to treat lumbar spinal stenosis. The Royal Household Bureau announced His Majesty could exercise effectively and was getting stronger. His Majesty was admitted to hospital on July 20. Since then, more than 200,000 people have flocked there to sign get-well messages. The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives yesterday delivered money boxes and pins reading "We love the King" to Royal Household Bureau officials to be given to well-wishers. The Siriraj Foundation gave away 10,000 postcard-sized photographs featuring His Majesty and a young HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The foundation limited the photographs to two per person. They were still snapped up quickly. Poster-sized pictures of His Majesty offered by the Bae Ruam Jai Club were also gone swiftly. Among dignitaries at the hospital yesterday signing get-well messages were Chat Thai Party leader Banharn Silapa-archa and the Iranian ambassador to Thailand Mohsen Pak-Ayeen. The ambassador described His Majesty as the greatest king. He praised His Majesty's encouragement for Thai people to respect people of all faith. "His Majesty has been kind and has provided assistance to Muslims in Thailand too," he said.
