Gardiner will take opportunity to meet Natural Resources and Environment Minister Yongyut Tiyapairat and Energy Minister Viset Choopiban during the visit.
He will attend a reception hosted by David Fall, British Ambassador to Thailand, to meet representatives of NGOs and Thai agencies involved in the protection of bio-diversity and the environment.
He will also travel to Kanchanaburi to visit a project funded under the British Government's Darwin Initiative, a funding programme that supports bio-diversity conservation worldwide.
The Elephant Conservation Network is working with local partners in Kanchanaburi to establish a community-based elephant conservation and conflict resolution initiative that it hopes will serve as a model for other areas in Thailand and the region. The British Government is funding Bt13.2 over three years to support the project.
While in Kanchanaburi, Gardiner will visit the River Kwai Bridge and the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery, where he will lay a wreath.
