Ruling party hopefuls to meet

Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra will today call a meeting of Thai Rak Thai Party candidates to boost morale in the wake of yesterday's guilty verdict against three election commissioners, a party source said.

Thaksin will not use the meeting to announce a final decision on whether he will accept the post of prime minister if Thai Rak Thai wins the most seats in the election, scheduled for October 15, the source said.

The party believed the election would go ahead as planned despite the removal of the commissioners, the source said.

At yesterday's Cabinet meeting Thaksin told ministers to bear in mind that they must always follow the electoral law, as the royal decree calling the new election would be effective soon, a Government House source said. - The Nation.
