Charoen in Khmer project

Liquor tycoon Charoen Siriwadhanabhakdi has teamed up with a Cambodian millionaire to invest in a US$50-million (Bt1.9-billion) sugarcane plantation and sugar production facility in Koh Kong, Cambodia.

Cambodia Daily reported yesterday that Charoen would

hold a 49-per-cent stake in the project, with the transaction

to be completed in December 2008.

The newspaper said the

sugar factory- part of the expansion of Charoen's alcohol business - would be the first of its kind in Cambodia.
