Man stabbed on notorious city overpass

A make-up artist known for his work with many show-business personalities is in hospital recovering from stab wounds sustained in a mugging on a notorious Lat Phrao pedestrian overpass.
Police said yesterday Prasai Boonrod, 43, was stabbed twice in the back late on Sunday night by two unidentified youths. He was robbed of belongings and cash. He remains in Vejthani General Hospital where police have been unable to speak with him as a result of his condition. Prasai is well known in entertainment and fashion circles for his costume designs and make-up. Lat Phrao police superintendent Colonel Anan Limthongchai hoped Prasai would be able to provide a description of his attackers. There were no witnesses to the attack. It was raining and the overpass was dark. However, police learned Prasai called a friend shortly after the attack and claimed to have been assaulted and robbed by two youths. He had been en route to the friend's home at the time. A source said the overpass was a notorious crime spot and was poorly lit and dangerous at night. Several muggings have been reported there.
