Hold on to magic of June 9 - Chirayu

Thai people should use the spontaneous harmony they shared during the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King's accession to the throne as inspiration to work for the good of the country, a senior government official advised yesterday.
"We should make that phenomenon on June 9 last forever in our minds and take it as inspiration," said Crown Property Bureau director Chirayu Issarangun na Ayutthaya in his address to a seminar marking the 9th anniversary of the Press Council of Thailand yesterday. The Thai public, he said, should follow His Majesty the King's advice in living their lives and doing their jobs to lead the country to overall prosperity. Chirayu said he himself had been practising the sufficiency economy as advised by His Majesty for six years, both in his personal life and work. "It is the best way to live your life," he said. He praised the National Economic and Social Development Board for having included the sufficiency economy in its 9th development plan in 1999 to make life better for the general public. Despite the strong influence of globalisation, the development board has managed to put the sufficiency economy into practice during the past two years, Chirayu said. "We hope every sector of Thai society will practice the sufficiency economy by the time of His Majesty's 80th birthday next December," he said.
