Thai women take overall title

The Thai women's squad won the overall title at the University World Weightlifting Championships in Turkey on Sunday.
World champion Paweena Thongsuk won a gold medal and two silvers in the 63kg class, while Wandee Kam-iam won two gold and one silver in the 58kg division. Chanpim Kantatian and Annipa Mooltha both won three gold each in the 53kg and over 75kg classes respectively. In the men's 56kg class, Thanasak Pan-aim won three gold, while Niwat Kritpetch grabbed a silver in the 62kg division. Kwanchai Nootpoom's last medal, a silver, gave his team a third place finished in the men's event. Thailand won a total of 12 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals in the three-day tournament, finishing second overall at the championships. China won the most gold medals with 28 and Turkey came third with five.
