True Wi-Fi service free at Siam Square

True Corp Plc has carpeted 60 rai of the prime shopping area of Siam Square with a Wi-Fi public wireless Internet access network which customers of its cellular operator True Move can use free of charge once a day.
True president Supachai Chearavanont said the company had spent Bt10 million on the Wi-Fi Outdoor project. True Move customers can connect with the service in the Siam Square area free of charge for three hours a day, he said. True businesses include fixed telephone, cellular and wireless Internet services, and pay-TV. The company will spend an additional Bt100 million by late this year to further expand its Wi-Fi network to cover the major provinces from 2,500 existing access points nationwide. Customers of the True group can also buy a card to access Wi-Fi service at a cost of Bt90 per hour, versus the normal Bt150 per hour for non-group users. Supachai said the True group expected to have between nine million and 10 million customers at the end of the year.
