Wisanu submits resignation

Deputy Prime Minister Wisanu Kruengam has submitted resignation from the position that will become effective next month.

He said he already informed caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawtra.

"I will end my political career and will not be member or run in election under a political party. I will return to my teaching career," Wisanu said.

His announcement ended week-long rumours speculations after Dr Bowornsak Uwanno, former cabinet secretary general resigned a few weeks ago. Bowornsak is now in the monkhood.

"I still have unfinished jobs as deputy prime minister so I will work for another month to finish them," Wisanu said.

He declined to comment whether his resignation was caused by working conflicts in the government.
