Surakiart's UN bid finds support Kazakhstan has expressed support for Deputy Prime Minister Surakiart Sathirathai in his bid to replace outgoing United Nations chief Kofi Annan, caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said yesterday.
Thaksin said Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev had given his backing at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia. "The Kazakh president told me that his country would support Khun Surakiart as the next UN secretary-general," he said.
