Thailand's Boosak Ponsana advanced to the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Open with a 21-17 21-14 victory over China's Chen Hong in Kuching yesterday.
However, compatriot Poompat Sapkulchananart lost to Peter Gade Christensen of Denmark 21-15 21-16.
King honouredThe World Boxing Council (WBC) - with its 161 affiliated countries - has declared 2006 as the Year of His Majesty the King of Thailand. WBC vice-president Kovid Bhakdibhumi said that in dedicating 2006 to His Majesty, "the WBC has given its highest honour to the King of Thailand".
