LATE NEWS
India to get Shinsat signal

Shin Satellite Plc recently bagged a deal to lease its satellite channel for news and entertainment programming from India.

YPT Entertainment, which claims an audience of 100 million Indian households, will rent one channel on Thaicom 3 before switching to the recently launched Thaicom 5, once it starts operations.

Thaicom 5 was needed to replace the glitch-ridden Thaicom 3.

Jutha forms JV

Jutha Maritime Plc will enter into a 51:49 joint venture with Nordana Project and Chartering of Denmark to buy multi-purpose vessels of about 10,000 dead-weight tonnes.

The ships, priced at about US$10 million (Bt385 million) apiece, would carry general dry cargo, such as steel and machinery, between Asia and the US.

Jasmine invests

Jasmine Submarine Telecommunications Co Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Jasmine International Plc, has bought 110.4 million shares of TT&T Plc for Bt325 million.

The purchases took place from June 1-9 at the average price of Bt2.94.

Jasmine Submarine's stake rose from 0.96 per cent to 4.38. Jasmine International already owns 25.12 per cent of TT&T.
