October 15 polls

Opposition parties, EC to discuss general elections
The opposition parties have agreed to hold talks with the Election Commission for the first time since they boycotted the April election.
The meeting is to discuss the schedule for an October 15 poll.
Democrat, Chat Thai and Mahachon parties agreed to take part after receiving a letter from commission chairman Vasana Puemlarp, who invited representatives from 34 political parties to a meeting on Wednesday to update the organisation's membership list.
Chat Thai deputy leader Somsak Prisanananthakul said he had no objection to participating in a meeting with the EC, saying "it is our business and it is important to cooperate over party membership".
Democrat Chinaworn Boonyakiat said his leader asked him to represent the party and raise questions about the duplication of party membership, which has allegedly boosted Thai Rak Thai Party membership figures. - The Nation.
