Regions celebrate

The North : A hundred and fifteen female prisoners were released yesterday from Chiang Mai jail along with 200 inmates from the city's Prison Centre after a royal pardon to commemorate the King's anniversary.

Many prisoners across the North were also released by royal pardon.

The North East

Nakhon Ratchasima residents wearing yellow shirts gathered at a shopping mall to watch the royal ceremony on a giant screen.

The shopping centre also exhibited 60 paintings of the King by the city's students.

In Nong Khai province, more than 30,000 people walked 6km in honour of the King yesterday morning.

The South

The Royal Thai Fleet fired 21-gun salutes in Phuket, Songkhla and Narathiwat.
