Cabinet to mull aid for the poor
The Cabinet will on Monday discuss relief measures to help low-income people affected by the economic slowdown and soaring fuel prices, caretaker Deputy Finance Minister Varathep Ratanakorn said yesterday.
Varathep said measures might focus on low-income workers suffering from the increasing costs of transportation and goods as well as higher interest rates.However, the minister ruled out tax cuts, saying the Finance Ministry would instead hasten budget disbursement in order to boost economic growth.
