Siam2you sees its chance in Vietnam

The Internet and wireless digital-content provider Siam2you Plc is setting up operations in Vietnam, to tap what it regards as a fast-growing market.
Co-founder and new chief executive Mikael Sribhadung said yesterday Siam2you would use its experience in the Thai market, with its 30 million mobile-phone users, to attract Vietnamese users. He said more than 50 per cent of the Vietnamese population were younger than 30, suggesting a huge demand for digital wireless entertainment existed. He added that the Vietnamese branch would be up and running this year. He recently hired former chief executive Niklas Stalberg to oversee its establishment there. A May 18 company filing to the Stock Exchange of Thailand said Stalberg resigned from his CEO post as of this past Tuesday. He will remain a board member and continue as a consultant for six months, in charge of the market expansion in Vietnam. Mikael said the company had previously explored the Singaporean market but found the environment too competitive. Besides expanding abroad, the company will focus more on developing and selling new entertainment, games and sport content. "Soon we'll have full-range music video for wireless download," said Mikael. The company is also a consultant for website design and related services. Sirivish Toomgum The Nation
