Bt9 air fares at travel show

Thai AirAsia plans to sell more than 10,000 tickets at its first ever discount travel show at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok from June 23-25.
CEO Tasapon Bijleveld said the carrier would offer visitors to the Thai AirAsia Travel Fair flights starting at just Bt9 per sector for all domestic and international routes. The price excludes fuel surcharges, insurance and service fees. "We have thousands of Bt9 tickets to sell at the show. It is the second time we have offered such a low rate, the last time was when we introduced the Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima route," said Tasapon. More than 50 hotel and tour operators will display their products and services at the fair with many offering special deals. Thai AirAsia flies from Bangkok to nine domestic destinations - Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Hat Yai, Phuket, Narathiwat, Krabi, and Surat Thani. It also serves eight international routes: Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Macau, Xiamen, Hanoi and Phnom Penh. Tasapon said the airline expects to carry three million passengers this year and earn Bt120 million, up Bt100 million on 2005. It also expects to achieve an average cabin factor of 82 per cent this year.
