Creature comforts for owner and pet

The newly opened Ozono offers a full range of treats - a massage parlour, a hotel, boutiques, a daycare centre, even an opportunity for a romp in the park.Humans haven't been forgotten, either.
A restaurant (Elite Grill), a coffeeshop (Coffee Berry) and an ice cream parlour (Tuscanini) offer you the opportunity to comfort the inner you, boutiques to pamper the outer you, and a beauty/massage parlour (Sabai Body) to make you feel good all over. Just don't forget, all these shops are pet-friendly. As you enjoy a relaxing massage, you might find yourself gazing into the huge eyes of someone's pug who has wandered in. The dual-purpose complex is the brainchild of Dhanesha K, who has relocated his Doggie Bag from Soi Thonglor to the five-rai Ozono complex. "I just wanted to set up a pet-friendly location for pet-lovers," he says. Probably another reason is that he needed a location for his own pets - seven dogs and 10 cats, who take full advantage of the facilities. The cats reside in Cat Societe, a boutique with a comfortable lounging area and a hotel for cats. There you can also find the feline-oriented knickknacks that delight your heart, even though perhaps your cat won't care about them that much. For the dogs, there is Petropolitan Hotel, which provides boarding facilities and a doggie daycare centre. Ozono's main area should make dog-owners prick up their ears - the two-rai Petropolis Park is full of grass, trees and winding walkways. The garden-like setting may even attract people who don't own a dog but who like to walk anyway. But that walk in the park doesn't come cheap. You're required to take out a membership, and the price varies depending on the duration of the membership and the days you choose for walkies. For example, a one-year membership for one dog, with walks on Tuesdays and Thursdays, is Bt20,000. "We're trying to structure the walks right now because we don't want too many dogs in the park at one time," Dhanesha says. The scheduling may change, or at least be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you aren't in the mood to take a walk or if you'd rather curl up with a cup of coffee on one of the comfortable benches scattered around, Ozono provides dog-walkers who exercise your dog for you - Bt150 for a half-hour. There are some drawbacks. Don't expect that you and your doggies can have a massage together. The facilities have been separated. Also, right now, Ozono staff in Petropolis run around with bottles of water and little "doggie pickup bags", but I wonder how long that green grass will stay green, given a canine's need to dig and urinate. Ozono is located on Sukhumvit Soi 39, just across the bridge from Phetburi Road. The complex has an ample carpark. For more information, you can phone Dhanesha on (02) 259 2788. You'll find him playing with his cats at Cat Societe or with his dogs in Doggie Bag.
