Ministry wants road show to help growth

The Commerce Ministry is calling a meeting of trade, tourism and investment bodies today to draw up plans for an investment road show to ensure economic growth.
Caretaker Commerce Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said yesterday executives from the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Board of Investment, Tourism Authority of Thailand and Export Promotion Department would participate in the meeting. The plan aims to attract more foreign investors during the extended period of the caretaker government. The road show should be held in the middle of the year. - The Nation. ------------------------------------------------------------ Eastern Water plans water price increase Eastern Water Resources Development and Management Plc will raise its unfiltered water price by 50 satang per cubic metre, effective from September 1. President Wanchai Lawatanatrakul said the company, which supplies raw water to the east of the country, hadn't raised its prices since 2000 but now was suffering with the rising fuel cost. "We have to shoulder higher electric bills, as energy accounts for a major part of the company's operating expenses," he said. - The Nation. ------------------------------------------------------------ Court postpones TPI ruling until next week The Central Bankruptcy Court yesterday postponed its ruling on the filing by Prachai Leophairatana, founder of Thai Petrochemical Industry Plc, until next Thursday. Prachai filed a case against TPI's plan administrator led by Mongkon Ampornpisit for failing to transfer the company's assets to him after TPI withdrew from its debt-rehabilitation plan on April 26. - The Nation.
