Thai official on his way

Pratya Permpanich has written a new chapter in the history of Thai football by being chosen as the only Thai assistant referee to take part in this year's World Cup.
Pratya is one of four Asian assistant referees, or linesmen, to by chosen by Fifa to take part in this year's World Cup in Germany. An absolutely delighted Pratya said his experience in big tournaments was the key to being chosen by Fifa. "I had to do a lot of tests in Germany from April 18-27 which were very, very difficult since there were many complicated procedures," said Pratya. "When I knew the list included my name, I was very happy. "Personally, I think my past experience in other big tournaments such as the World Under-20 Championships helped me a lot in the test. "I hope to do my best in the tournament as the only representative from Thailand." Pratya was also an assistant referee in the Confederations Cup in Germany last year as well as in the final of the AFC Champions League. Pirom Un-Prasert was the first Thai to be a part of the world's biggest football tournament when he refereed in the 1998 World Cup in France.
